New Technologies- Micro-algae Green Wall

This year I have been very interested in new technologies within the building industry. I regularly look at technologies that are being developed and is potentially an area of research that I would like to look into next year.

Green walls are something that I have more recently become interested in with the benefits that they can offer and the visual impact that they can have on a building. Whilst browsing the internet I came across the development of a new micro-algae green wall that is under construction in Germany.

The glass louvres are attached to the building and act as shades for the building. Between the glass micro-algae grows and acts as shading for the building. In brighter conditions the micro-algae grows faster therefore providing more shade for the weather conditions. The design not only will have a visual impact put will able produce energy to help power the building.

The façade produces biomass that can be harvested and also captures solar thermal heat. These both will be used to power the building.
