Sustainable Stadiums- Dalian Shide Stadium

Sustainability is such an important thing that has to be considered with any building. Sustainability in sport is something that is very important at the moment and is having a major impact on the designs of new stadiums around the world. For my research methods topic I have considered looking at how sustainable and adaptable construction can be transfer into the world of sports.

Dalian Shide Stadium

NBBJ architects have taken sustainability strongly into consideration with there proposal for a new football stadium in China. The unique design sees a stadium that is not totally enclosed but has one side totally open.

 

The concept behind the design is to connect the outside with the in with the unique design. They plan to use  a number of sustainable elements within the building the one that is most impressive to me is the green walls that will not only have a visual impact but will help with insulation and reduce energy use.
